Abstract

The tube is rectangular, and constructed from upper and lower shells fitting together around an internal partition with a flat central strip (which rests in contact with bottom shell), and inclined side faces turned down at edges, which come into contact with side rims of shells when these are pressed together, to provide pressure ensuring a satisfactory weld. The internal piece may be of more complex shape, or may be e.g. of expanded metal to provide flow baffling. Tube sections may be continuously fabricated by extrusion; and provide a unit which is easily welded in e.g. a radiator assembly for heating or cooling liquids.
