Abstract
1334284 Immersion heaters EMERSON ELECTRIC CO 29 Nov 1971 [4 Dec 1970] 55196c71 Heading H5H [Also in Division E2] In a electric liquid heater, sheet metal bands 25, tack welded together at corners 28 to form an assembly 24, Fig. 4, are fitted over the end of the legs 17, 18, 20, 22 of metal sheathed heating elements so as to retain the legs and the elements in fixed relationship to each other. A further arrangement for six elements Fig. 5 of five elements, Fig. 6 (not shown) includes a ring 32 (32b), surrounding and secured to the support band for the central element 30 (36), to which the outer metal bands are attached by tack welds. The grip on the legs of the elements may be improved by inwardly deforming the flat sides of the bands by squeezing or by means of a transverse bolt passing through the first side and threaded into the opposite side of the band, Fig. 8 (not shown). In the case of a long element two bands may be used Fig. 1, and to facilitate assembly the bands may be made resilient to allow flexing.
