Abstract
677,182. Electric lamps with internal screens. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. April 6, 1950 [April 13, 1949], No. 8765/50. Class 39(ii) To facilitate the accurate mounting of a filament screen 7 upon a supporting wire 5 for the purpose of preventing light radiation in certain directions, as in vehicle headlamps, the supporting-wire is bent in conformity with two intersecting surfaces 8, 9 of the screen and secured, e.g. by welding, within a groove provided in each of those two surfaces. The grooved surfaces may meet at a line of intersection 13, or, as shown in Fig. 3, the upper and lower faces 9, 14 of a screen of the form shown may be grooved to receive a supporting wire 5 which is bent at 13, 13<SP>1</SP> and projects beyond the face 9 for attachment to one end of a filament, (not shown).
