677,173. Securing windscreen wipers to spindles. TRICO-FOLBERTH, Ltd. Feb. 5, 1951 [March 3, 1950], No. 5469/50. Class 80 (ii). A windscreen wiper arm 1 is attached to an actuating spindle by means of a mounting socket 3 which receives a split bush 8 having a conical collar part 11. A nut 13 with a conical bore screws into the socket 3 and clamps the collar part 11 to the actuating spindle. The inner end 10 of the bush 8 is keyed to the socket 3. The bush 8 may be fixed in the socket so as to remain in position when the nut is unscrewed, or it may be attached to the nut so as to be withdrawn with the latter. The invention permits the wiper arm to be fixed to a very short spindle.
