Abstract

847,160. Securing wiper arms on shafts. O'SHEI, W. E. Jan. 26, 1959 [Jan. 28, 1958], No. 2829/58. Class 80 (2). The head 3 of a windscreen wiper arm 1 has a bore 8 formed by two separate parts each provided with a group of splines 11 adapted to engage with splines on a driving-spindle 15, one of said parts being constituted by a block member 9 which is adjustable to vary the diametric distance between the two groups of splines 11, for enabling the head 3 to be clamped on the driving-spindle 15. The block member 9 is adjusted by rotating a screw 13 to slide the member 9 along a surface 10a inclined to the axis of the bore 8. In an alternative construction the head is formed in two parts connected by a rivet and defining a bore having a group of splines on each part, the diametric distance between the two groups being variable by means of a screw adjustment.
