Abstract

677,092. Fencing. MASON, J. L. Dec. 7, 1949. No. 31447/49. Class 45 A coupling member for securing together a cross-rail 6 and a post 5 in a fence comprises a sleeve 1 having at least one flat face and which is adapted to be fitted over the end of the rail and which has supporting members 2, 3 at one end extending at right angles to the lengthwise direction of the sleeve, one of the supporting members 3 being further extended parallel with the cross rail and being adapted to be secured to a face of the post parallel with the cross rail. This allows the rail to be set back from the face of the post 5 to allow for the depth of any weather boarding secured to the rail. Nail or screw holes 8, 9 are provided in the sleeve and flanges and a slot may be provided on the front face of the sleeve to allow weather boarding to be nailed in position.
