572,653. Fencing. HIBBERD, A. J., HINE, J. S., and MOORE, G. W. Oct. 19, 1943, No. 17177. [Class 45] A distorted-plate fastening device for connecting horizontal and vertical members, as in fencing, is bent out of a single blank. Fig. 2 shows a plate having bent-over parts 20, 16' which embrace a vertical post 18 and other parts 15; 19 which embrace an arris rail 12. The part 19 lies against the vertical face of the rail 12, and the parts 15 bear on the two inclined faces thereof. Holes 32 admit fixing nails or screws. Fig. 3 shows a blank suitable for attaching a cant rail to a vertical post, the lines of bending of the blank being indicated in uniformly broken lines 24, 25, 28, 31. If desired, the parts 27 may extend further and be connected by a cross-piece to form a U-piece similar to the U-piece 30.
