[Also in Group XXXV] A three-phase charging system (see Group XXXV) for storage batteries e, i which are supplied over a step-down transformer c, g and full-wave rectifiers d, h, is protected against an inter-phase fault by a relay having a pair of normally-balanced windings k supplied over rectifier bridges m, n, respectively connected to a neutral point (as shown, a star point of the transformer) and one of the lines, and to the other two lines. The relay controls a contact o which on fault engages one pair of fixed contacts to energize a coil p which opens the circuit of a circuit-breaker operating coil r at q.
