[Also in Group XXV] The blanks for the front plates of hinges for spectacle frames are cut from ribbed bar stock a, Fig. 3, which is fed to the cutter 14 at an angle to the horizontal. The blanks for the side plates are also made from ribbed bar stock a, Fig. 10, fed to the cutter 14<SP>1</SP> in a horizontal plane at an angle to the plane of the cutter. In the resulting hinge the front plate 1, Fig. 15, has a pair or more of parallel lugs 2 projecting from the plate surface at an angle to the perpendicular, the outside inclined faces 8 of the lugs being flush with the similarly inclined longitudinal edges 11 of the plate, and the side plate 5 has its transverse edge 10 cut aslant to fit snugly against a complemental transverse edge of the front plate when the hinge is open. The flat longitudinal faces 12, Fig. 13, of the lug 4 which interfits with the lugs 2, are parallel with the longitudinal edges of the plate 5, while the axis of the lug is parallel with the edge 10.
