Abstract

676,513. Vibratory mechanism. KEYSER, C. DE. Dec. 31, 1947 [Aug. 1, 1944], No. 35404 / 47. Class 80 (iv). A vibration generating device comprises the combination in a completely enclosed casing of an electric motor connected through a centrifugal clutch, to a shaft carrying an eccentric mass. The motor shaft 1, Fig. 2, carrying the rotor coils 9 is mounted in roller bearings 13, 14 in an inner casing 15 resiliently mounted in the outer casing 11 by resilient rings 16, 17. The stator windings 10 are supported by the casing 15. A plate 2 keyed to the shaft 1 has a series of radial holes 3 in which shoes 4 slide, and are pressed into engagement with the rim 5 of a plate 6 by springs 8. The plate 6 is secured to a shaft 7 disposed within shaft 1, and carries an eccentric weight. Another plate 6' is secured to the opposite end of shaft 7, and carries an eccentric weight 18 the angular position of which may be varied for variation of the vibrating force. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also a modification, wherein a shaft 31, Fig. 6 (Cancelled) is disposed parallel to a shaft 24 concentric with the motor shaft 1. The shafts carry eccentric loads 29, 34 at one end and are connected by gearing 30, 35 at the other end. Clutch member 23 has a toothed periphery which engages a gear wheel 36 secured to the shaft 31. Thus, in operation, the drive is transmitted from member 23 to shaft 31, and then to shaft 24 by means of gear wheels 35, 30. In a modification of this arrangement, gear wheels 30, 35 are replaced by unbalanced weights, and member 23 is secured to shaft 24. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
