Abstract

676,386. Planes. MILLERS FALLS CO. March 22, 1950 [April 21, 1949], No. 7162/50. Class 61 (ii). A wood working or like plane comprises a metal base A and a detachable metal frame member B connected thereto by screws 1, the frame member carrying an adjustable blade assembly and the handle. The plastic hand grip 7 is attached to the frame by screws 8. The blade assembly comprises a blade 2, blade cap 3 and clamping member 4 held in position on the frame by a screw 5, the blade 2 and blade cap 3 being held in relation to each other by a screw 6. The blade is adjusted longitudinally by a screw 18 carrying a nut 17 connected to a lever 14a pivoted at 14b to the frame, the upper end 15 of the lever projecting through openings in the blade and blade cap. For lateral adjustment of the blade, a pivoted lever 24 carries a disc 26 which engages a slot in the blade. The adjusted blade is clamped in position by a pivoted lever 21 carrying an' antifriction roller 23 which bears on a spring 20 pinned to the central portion of the clamping member 4. A two piece pressure knob C of plastic material is secured to the base by a screw 11 which threads into a detachable cross bar 13a in a chamber in the base.
