Class 22 Refractory compositions containing dolamite and/or magnesia, and organic binders have added thereto or to one of the components condensing and/or polymerizing liquids or solids and/or gases to react with the organic binders at least partly during and/or after the mixing operation and/or during firing the compositions. Gases specified are air, oxygen, ozone, chlorine, sulphur trioxide and nitrogen tetroxide, whilst solids are materials giving gases under heat, e.g. manganese dioxide, barium peroxide, percarbonates and peroxides generally, and ferric sulphate. Aluminium chloride and sulphur are also specified. Carbon, graphite or fluxes may also be included in the compositions.
