675,889. Heating air by direct contact with combustion gases. HARTLEY, A. J. Jan. 19, 1951 [Feb. 14, 1950], No. 3701/50. Class 64(i) In a solid-fuel stove supplying a mixture of hot air and combustion gases for drying moulds in foundries &c. and comprising a firebox 15 having a fuel inlet at its upper end and secondary air inlet and hot gas outlet apertures 17, 19 in its side walls, a fuel feed tube 23 extends down from the fuel-charging opening to about the level of the bottom of the apertures 17, 19, to prevent the latter from being blocked by fuel. The feed tube may terminate at the top of the firebox or, as shown, may extend upwardly to form a fuel hopper 24. The stove has a base 10 with adjustable legs 11.
