In a modification of the device described in Specification 528,682, in which overheating of an immersion heater causes fusible material to melt so that a ratchet wheel 18 can turn and a spring-biased plunger 28 and pawl 26 move to the right to eject a socket out of engagement with plug pins 16, the biassing spring 36 bears against a bush 34, Fig. 3, which fits over the reduced end of the blade-like plunger 28, shoulders on the plunger engaging the ends of slots 32. The pawl 26 is of channel section with lugs at its ends to embrace the end of the plunger and receive a pin 29 pivoting it to the plunger.
