674,693. Compressors. SOC. D'ETUDES ET DE PARTICIPATIONS EAU, GAZ, ELECTRICITE, ENERGIE SOC. ANON. June 12, 1950 [June 14, 1949], No. 14644/50. Class 8 (i) A two stage free piston motor compressor has the ratio of compression in the first stage less than in the second, but discharge arranged to occur simultaneously in each. The motor piston 3 drives the low pressure piston 11 and the high pressure piston 12, one side of the former supplying scavenging air through the valve 17. Low pressure air passes through the reservoir 23 but compression in the high pressure cylinder does not commence until piston 12 closes the parts 25. Piston 2 with return energy piston 7 is connected by synchronizing gear to the piston 3 &c.
