Abstract
674,370. Rollers. ALGEMENE KUNSTZIJDE UNIE N. V. Feb. 28, 1950 [June 10, 1949], No. 5099/50. Class 42 (ii). A roller for guiding wet artificial threads during spinning or after-treatment, comprises distance pieces 3 in the form of rings provided with grooves 4 in the sides thereof for clamping thread-guiding surfaces 5 formed from sheetmaterial bent around a roller core 1, the rings 3 being so mounted on the core that they are carried around during rotation of the core. As shown, core 1, which may be solid or hollow, is provided with longitudinal grooves 2 which are engaged by complementary projections on rings 3. The core may be sheathed with rubber etc; where the sheathing is soft, the longitudinal grooves may be omitted, the internal ribs on rings 3 providing sufficient grip on the soft sheathing. Surfaces 5 may be formed from flat strip material bent to cylindrical shape with or without overlapping; or, as shown, the surfaces may be undulating circumferentially, and have in cross-section the shape of a flat V longitudinally of the roller so that excess liquid on surfaces 5 is guided centrifugally on to rings 3. A number of surfaces 5 and rings 3 are held together on core 1 by suitable fastening means which can be disconnected to allow the rings to be moved apart for replacing a damaged guiding surface.
