Abstract
674,191. Jacks. MASSEY-HARRIS. Ltd. Nov. 20, 1950. [Nov. 22, 1949] No. 29833/49. Class 78 (iii). [Also in Group XXXI] In a jack for an agricultural trailer, in which a jack arm formed of spaced plates is pivoted on a draw bar formed of spaced side plates, the jack arm being raised or lowered by a screw threaded rod engaging a nut pivoted on the draw bar and being rotably carried at its lower end to be capable of sliding along the jack arm as the latter is raised or lowered ; the nut is carried on a bracket pivoted between the side plates of the draw bar and the lower end of the rod is carried in a bearing pivoted on brackets slidable between the plates of the jack arm. As shown the jack arm 1 is pivoted at 1<SP>1</SP> to the draw bar 2 of the trailer and carries a skid 4. Intermediate the ends of the arm 1 are slidably mounted the brackets 5 pivotally carrying the bearing 5<SP>1</SP> in which the screw threaded rod 3 is rotably carried. The rod carries the nut 6 mounted in a bracket 6<SP>1</SP> pivoted on the plates of the draw bar pins 6<SP>2</SP>, the jack being operated by a cranked end of the rod 3. In its raised position the arm 1 is held in position by a spring urged catch 7, a tail arm 7<SP>1</SP> on the catch having its movement under the action of the spring 8 limited by a lower coupling member 2<SP>1</SP> of the draw bar when the jack arm is lowered.
