Abstract

673,851. Electric filters. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. June 5, 1950 [June 3, 1949], No. 14986/49. Class 40 (viii). [Also in Group XL (c)] In an electrical filter having input and output shunt capacities, part of these are constituted by the electrodes of a condenser having a movable element which can be adjusted to vary their ratio and also their total. As shown, part of the input and output shunt capacities of a valve coupling network are due to the inherent capacities of valves 15 and 17. The capacity of the left-hand components of variable condenser 16 is connected in parallel with the capacity of valve 17, while the capacity of the right hand components of condenser 16 in series with coupling circuit 14 and 20 is in parallel with the capacity of valve 15. These variable capacities permit ready compensation adjustment of the filter when fresh valves are substituted for valves 15 and 17 with consequent slight alteration in capacity. The filter is completed by resistance 7 and inductance 6, a condenser 12 grounding this part for alternating current. The condenser 16 may be of the kind described in Fig. 2 of Specification 648,228, [Group XXXVI].
