Abstract
671,602. Knitting. HEMPHILL CO. April 19, 1950 [Sept. 13, 1949], No. 9614/50. Class 74 (ii). A yarn binder includes a relatively stiff but bendable back-plate 1 having longitudinal flutes 2 and a resilient front-plate 4 normally in close contact with the fluted portion except at its free end, which is bent away from the backplate at 8 to form a throat for entry of the yarn between the plates. By bending plate 1, it may be adjusted whilst in position on the machine. That edge of the plate 4 at which the yarn enters the binder is serrated at 7 and the distal end of the opposite edge of plate 1 is provided with a toe 3 : the serrations prevent the yarn dropping down in the binder, and the toe prevents its escape therefrom. The binder may be associated with a mechanicallyoperated cutter, as in Fig. 1.
