[Also in Group VIII] A device for marking the opposite edges of flat material as it is withdrawn from a machine comprises supports 60, over which the fabric passes, positioned at opposite edges of the material and rollers 59, which normally rest on an ink pad and which are periodically advanced over the edges of the material passing over the supports 60 to positively mark the edge with ink. The rollers 59 are carried by arms 57 operated by levers 46 from solenoids 42 which are actuated at intervals from a tensioning roller of the material take-up mechanism.
