Abstract

671,210. Discharge lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Aug. 30, 1950 [Sept: 16, 1949], No. 21456/60. Class 39 (i). An electrode structure for a high-pressure discharge tube comprises a tantalum wire 5 having a transversely bent end 6, a disc. shaped tantalum electrode 7 having a convoluted ridge 8 thereon, which may be formed by a tantalum wire spiral, and a tantalum discshaped heat radiation shield 9, the bent end 6 of the support wire 5 being interposed between the discs 7, 9 to space them apart. The wire 5 extends through a slot in disc 9 formed by bending out a lug 11 from the disc. The electrode is self-heating and unactivated. Specifications 645,122 and 660,258 are referred to.
