Abstract

670,441. Walls. MARTIN-PARRY CORPORATION. May 20. 1949 [July 29, 1948], No. 13489/49. Class 20(iv) A vertical stud 3 for a fire-resistant wall, such as a ship's bulkhead, extending between floor and ceiling channels, not shown, comprises a pair of sheet metal furring strips 6, 7 and an interposed narrow sheet 8 of asbestos fibre &c. which are secured together by bolts 25. The said bolts 25 are spaced along flanges 10 of the strips 6, 7 and engage elongated slots 24 in metal strips 22 which are laterally adjustable each to engage the adjacent edge of a fire-resistant panel 30 and clamp it against the corresponding projecting edge of the sheet 8, the opposite edge of the panel 30 being clamped to an adjacent stud 3, not shown. Mounting strips 13 for wall facing panels 21 are secured within depressions 12 of the furring strips 6, 7 and are formed with longitudinal ridges 15 which are flattened at spaced intervals 20 to provide bulges for locking engagement with grooves in said panels 21.
