In a suspension filing device, cross suspension means for the folders comprise an inner supporting bar 1 and an outer clamping bar 2, the bars being interlocked in longitudinally telescopic relation when fitted to the side edge or edges of the folder or folders and each bar being provided with a rail engaging notch or hook 3, 8 at one end and a rail clearance recess 5a, 9a at the other end such that the hook 3 engages one rail 4 and the hook 8 engages the other rail 6 and the bars 1, 2 are relatively displaceable longitudinally so as to accommodate variation in the spacing of the rails 4, 6 and to permit an angularly inclined position of the bars and suspended folder or folders. The bars 1, 2 project at each end clear of the folders and the clamping bar 2 which is of channel section, is provided with inwardly projecting protuberances 10, 11 extending beneath the bar 1 which lock the bars in position on the free side edge of the folders. To limit the relative telescopic movement of the bars, bar 1 is cut away at 12 and the bar 2 is provided with an abutment 13 to engage the shoulder 12, their positions being such as to prevent withdrawal of the bar 1 clear of the rail 6. The upper longitudinal and end edges of the folders may be cut away to provide clearances in the area of the protuberances.
