[Also in Group VII] The phase of an eccentric actuating part of the mechanism of a sewing-machine may be altered by 180 degrees relative to its shaft. In the mechanism shown, the eccentric h is free on the shaft b and has a pin f, with shock-absorbing spring, arranged to be engaged by one or other of two driving pins e slidable in bores 180 degrees apart in a sleeve fixed on the shaft. The pins e are interconnected by a lever g pivoted in the sleeve, and one of them is extended and notched to engage a flange of a slidable control sleeve d with a projection j for actuation by the operator's finger or for connection to control mechanism actuated from a remote point; the sleeve d is usually spring-biassed to the forward-running position.
