[Also in Group XXVIII] In a process for the pneumatic transportation of flour between three stages of milling, the same pumping means B serves simultaneously to suck a first air stream transporting the flour from the first stage to the second stage, and to blow a second air stream transporting the flour from the second stage to the third. Fig. 1. Flour ground a,t first grinder A is conveyed to second' grinder D by air on the suction side of pump B, being filtered therefrom by filter C, and is then conveyed to third grinder F by air on the compression side of said pump, being filtered therefrom by filter E. Figs. 2 and 3. Filter C. Flour laden air arrives by pipe 6 and passes into container 11 and, after passing around baffle 7 and through gap 8 therein, is filtered by bags 2 and passes into chamber 9 and out through pipes 22 and 23 to discharge pipe 10. The bags 2 are disturbed or vibrated regularly by dilation of their respective impermeable membranes 13, air passing thereto from the atmosphere whenever hole 12 in rotating disc 15 coincides with a mouth of a membrane. Rotor 5 discharges the material. Fig. 4. The connection between membrane 13 and disc 15 is sealed by sleeve 12, which is formed with hole 14 for allowing the periodic escape to chamber 9 of the air which has entered the membrane through hole 12. Figs. 6 and 7. Modifications of Fig. 4. The periodic escape of air from membrane 13 takes place through passages 31, 29, 30, the passage 31 being formed in disc 15a. Fig. 5. Filter E. The same as Fig. 2, except that an extra chamber 24 is added, and is connected at 25 to the compression side of the pump, so that this compressed air causes the membranes to dilate as before.
