Abstract

669,586. Clocks and watches. UHRENFABRIK ETERNA AKT.-GES. May 24, 1949 [Aug. 5, 1948], No. 13808/49. Class 139. Winding means for watch or clock movements with manual and automatic winding mechanisms is characterised in that a first gear wheel is mounted on a swing-out lever, and that the longitudinal axis of the lever and the connecting line between the centres of the first wheel and of a second wheel which is common to both winding mechanisms and is in meshing engagement, during manual winding, with the first wheel form an angle measured in the direction of rotation of the first wheel, which is smaller than 180 degrees there being elastic means provided which ensure engagement of the two wheels on the latter being at rest. The manual winding gear train includes pinion 1, gear wheel 2 and gear wheel 5. An oscillating weight (not shown) transmits motion through gearing (not shown) to the gear wheel 5. The gear wheel 2 is carried by a pivoted lever 3. During manual winding the forces acting on the lever 3 through the gear 2 produce a resultant force acting in such a direction as to keep the gear 2 in mesh with the gear 5. During automatic winding however the resultant force acting on the gear 2 overcomes the pressure of the spring 8 to disengage wheels 2 and 5.
