Abstract

A method of manufacturing a solid product of comminuted fibrous material comprises treating in a pulverizing or comminuting mill a dry mixture of small pieces of fibrous material and stone in the form of lumps or powder the dry comminuted material so produced being mixed with an asphaltic or resinous binder. In an embodiment small pieces of dried wood pulp are fed with lumps of stone to a hammer mill the resulting product consisting of individual fibres each coated with finely divided stone. The fibre so prepared is mixed with a hot asphaltic or resinous binder with or without additional stone flour or other filler, and with or without colouring pigments or plasticizers. The solid product may be formed into sheets. Specification 339,528, [Class 59], is referred to.
