Abstract

667,717. Making tubing. BUNDY TUBING CO. Jan. 26, 1950 [March 7, 1949], No. 2021/50. Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv). Angular bending; rolling; welding.- In making longitudinally jointed tubing a strip S is fed through guide rolls 2, 3 to bending rolls 5, 6, which bend the edge portions of the strip to the finished curvature, rolls 10, 11 with hardened inserts for pressing the edges of the strip normal to the bend and rolls 16, 21, 23, 29, 30, 38, 40, 45 which bend progressively the centre portion of the strip to the final curvature and recondition the strip edges. The seam is welded by insulated disc electrodes 50 contacting each side of the seam.
