667,472. Guided skips. GRIFFIN. T. N. Feb. 24, 1950. [April 12, 1949] No. 4840/50. Class 78 (iii). A power shovel of the kind comprising an automotive vehicle (not shown), a pair of inclined channel runways 3 mounted on the vehicle with pulleys 4 uppermost, a shovel bucket 5 having a pair of haulage pins 11, a pair of forward wheels 7 and a pair of rearward wheels 8 able to travel along said runways, and winch mechanism (not shown) including cables 12 operable by the engine of the vehicle to haul said bucket up said runways ; has a bucket halting and tipping device comprising ramps 15, rollers 10 on said bucket adapted to run on said ramps, stops 13 on said runways to obstruct said wheels 7, gaps 14 in the top flanges of the runways through which wheels 8 may rise when the wheels 7 are obstructed by stops 13, stop plates 16 fixed on the runways, rubber cushioning blocks 18 mounted below the runways, buffer levers 28 fulcrumed at 21 and having portions 28 lying in the path of the haulage pins, and compression springs 26 arranged to oppose depression of the buffer levers by said haulage pins.
