Abstract

667,458. Actuation of switches; protective cut-out arrangements. MICAFIL AKT.-GES. May 25, 1950. No. 13137/50. Class 38 (v). Protective apparatus for electrical apparatus filled with insulating liquid and including a float 3 which falls and operates a switch 4 when gas is formed in the housing 2, may be tested by energizing an electromagnet 6 outside the housing and thereby attracting an armature 7 linked to the pivoted float. In the form shown the magnetic force acts through a non-magnetic plate 10 sealing the housing. In modifications, oil tightness is achieved by using a bellows to transmit the motion or by an oil tight cover round the magnet.
