Abstract

1,191,870. Magnetic switches. BESTA A.G. 24 Aug., 1967, No. 39059/67. Heading H1N. A float-operated magnetic switch includes a snap-action spring-biased microswitch and is provided with an additional spring or weight to oppose the snap-action spring to ensure that it does not influence the movement of the magnets. The float 3 is pivoted at 7 and carries, in a non-magnetic tube 4, a permanent magnet 6 which is in opposition to a further permanent magnet 34 on the other side of a non-magnetic wall 14 of a sealed container 16. The magnet 34 is mounted in a plastics sleeve 35 having a projecting lug 36 engaged with the operating member 42 of a microswitch 38 which with the magnet pivot 361 is mounted on a carrier 26. A torsion spring 43 is supported on the pivot-pin 361 and acts between the carrier 26 and lug 36 to oppose the forces thereon due to the spring of the snap-action microswitch acting through the member 42. Connectors from the microswitch terminals 39, 40, 41 are embedded in the carrier 26 and pass to a second sealed compartment 20 and a terminal block 29. A flange 47 is bolted to a container (not shown) into which the float 3 extends.
