Abstract

1,270,879. Valves. SANTON Ltd. 9 Nov., 1970 [30 Oct., 1969], No. 53270/69. Heading F2V. A valve comprises a closure member 10 of magnetic material co-operating with a seat 11 and positioned with a clearance space on one side of a diaphragm 13 of non-magnetic material. A bi-metallic thermal element 14 on the. other side of the diaphragm carries two electric terminals 17 and a permanent magnet 16 which attracts the closure member to open position when the element 14 is heated and bends toward the diaphragm by current passed through at least one conductive metal of the element. The element may be U- or W-shaped. The valve is incorporated in an off-peak electric water storage heater, in which a replenishment tank (3), Fig. 1 (not shown); is mounted on top of the heater (2) and the valve is connected through pipes 8, 12 to the tank and heater.
