Abstract
667,454. Self levelling arrangements. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. May 22, 1950, No. 12767/50. Class 113 (i). A gimbal support comprises an arcuate yoke 7 pivotally supporting the gimbal 1 at two diametrically opposed points 2, 3, defining an axis of rotation for the gimbal, the yoke 7 being slidingly mounted in a shoe 13 fixed on a shaft 18 which is driven by a selsyn motor 23 to rotate the shoe, yoke, and gimbal about the axis of the shaft: a continuous flexible driving member 9 extends over driving and idling wheels 8. 11. adjacent to the points 2, 3, and sprockets 14, 15 splined to shafts 16, 17 driven by selsyn motors 24, 25 to actuate the driving member 9 through the wheel to rotate the gimbal 1 about said axis of rotation ; by rotating one of the sprocket wheels 14 or 15 faster than the other the driving member 9 will pull the yoke 7 through the shoe 13 thus rotating said axis of rotation of the gimbal 1 in the plane of the yoke.
