Abstract

666,949. Lipstick holders and the like. EYELET SPECIALTY CO. Jan. 17, 1950. [Jan. 24, 1949] No. 1152/50. Class 18. A holder for cosmetic sticks, comprising a plurality of concentric tubes that are relatively rotatable to advance and retract the stick, has a slide 2( that is displaced by application of a cap or cover 31 to cause its lower end 21 to enter an aperture 2: in an operating head 4 of the innermost tube 3 and thereby prevent relative rotation of the tube unti the cap is removed. As shown in Figs. 1 and 5, the slide 20 is mounted be tween concentric sleeve 1, 15 that are laminate( together to rotate as one about the innermost sleeve or tube 3 within which a stick carrier 5 is movable by engagement of a projection in longitudinal and helical slots in the sleeves. The slide has a roughened bevel portion 24 projecting through a slot 27 in the sleeve 1 so that it is engaged by the inside of the cap 31, when it is applied and removed, and thereby pushed into and withdrawn from the aperture 22. Alternatively, the locking slide may be inserted in a slot in the sleeve 15 and has its ends confined between the sleeves 3, 1, Fig. 8 (not shown) or the outermost sleeve 1 may have an outwardly directed channel to accommodate it.
