Abstract

666,346. Coke-oven &c. doors. WOLFF, E. July 6, 1950 [July 8, 1949], No. 18054/49. Class 55 (i). The door 12 of a coke oven &c. is fitted with an encircling sealing frame 17 of flat steel strip which is in frictional engagement with a peripheral seating surface 16 on the body 13 of the door and the leading edge 25 of which is adapted to bear on a seating face 26 of the door frame 11. The frame 17 is secured to the body 13 by screws 19, which are adjustable radially with respect to the latter and project through elongated longitudinal slots 18 therein, or, alternatively, by resiliently mounted hooks spaced around the body 13, the head 19 of each hook being provided with a bead or beads 19b adapted to bear on the frame 17 and the shank 19a with an adjusting nut 20 and interposed cup springs 37. The construction is such that the frame 17 may be forced against the seating face 26 by hammer blows on the rear edge 27 thereof.
