Abstract
666,242. Electric polishing machines. PEJSEK, A. Dec. 3, 1948, No. 31325/48. Class 19. An electrically driven polishing machine adapted to be operated by one hand, for polishing wood and like surfaces, is characterized in that the electric motor shaft and the polishing spindle are vertically arranged side by side and a link or disc fixed on the motor shaft acts as a bearing for the polishing pad spindle. Fig. 1 is a side view and Fig. 2 a sectional view on line A-B of Fig. 1. The pad 3 may be made of an inner layer of a non-absorbent soft elastic mass 8 with a layer of absorbent polishing material 9 forming the lower part of the textile covering 7. The polish vessel 10 may be divided into compartments for spirit, polish or oil and may be detachably fitted to the polishing head. The hand grip 11 may be detached. The eccentricity provided by the link 15 must leave the centre of gravity of the machine X-X passing through the working face of the pad. The pad rotates about the motor shaft and is freely rotatable about its own axis by reason of the interaction of an internally toothed ring 16 fitted to the casing of the polishing head and a coacting pinion 17 on the spindle of the polishing disc. The openings 17 in the link allow of changes in the eccentricity. Change gearing to suit different eccentricities may comprise pinions of varying sizes exchangeably fitted on the pad spindle and allows of alteration in polishing speeds.
