Abstract

666,163. Luminescent materials. WESTING- HOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. March 24, 1949 [May 15, 1948]. No. 8050/49. Drawings to Specification. Class 39 (i). A phosphor particularly for fluorescent lamps consists essentially of a thallium-activated phosphate of calcium with from 4 to 12 per cent of magnesium phosphate in solid solution. The peak of emission is at about 3190 A.U. Tertiary magnesium phosphate, calcium carbonate, diammonium phosphate are ground together and either tertiary thalluim phosphate or thallium sulphate mixed in before firing at 950‹ C. suitable proportions of ingredients being specified.
