Abstract

Desulpherizing ferrous metal in the furnace or laddle or when flowing from a furnace is effected whilst molten slag is floating on the metal, by the introduction of at least one metal hydride to the metal, preferably an alkali metal hydride, and subsequent removal of the slag. Any other treatment of the metal may proceed simultaneously in known manner. Specification 387,726 is referred to.
