Abstract

<PICT:0665454/IV (c)/1> <PICT:0665454/IV (c)/2> <PICT:0665454/IV (c)/3> An apparatus for continuously treating textile materials 1 in continuous length, comprises in combination a bath vessel 7 constructed so as to be capable of containing molten metal 10 to form a treating bath for the material, means located at the part of the bath vessel where the material enters the latter and adapted to maintain a layer of treating liquor 11 floating on the surface of the molten metal where the material enters the latter so that the material is continuously impregnated with the treating liquor 11 prior to entry of the material to the molten metal, liquor supply means adapted to supply replenishing liquor to the floating layer, control means adapted to control the liquor supply in accordance with variations in the level of the floating layer so that the level of the layer is maintained substantially constant, and heating means adapted to heat the replenishing liquor as it is supplied to said layer.
