Abstract

665,384. Percussive drills. WILD & CO., Ltd., A. G., and HISTON, R. March 6, 1950 [March 23, 1949], No. 7893/49. Class 124 [Also in Groups XI and XXIX] Spraying apparatus (see Group XXIX) applicable to percussive tools, for the suppression of dust &c. comprises an annular whirling and mixing chamber to which compressed gas and liquid are led separately, before being discharged in spray form from an annular outlet at the end of the chamber. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, air and liquid are fed through passages 20, 16, 14, and 21, 17, 15 respectively, in a percussive tool, to a two-start helical groove 12, 13 through which they travel separately to a chamber 9, and are discharged from an outlet 11. A bush 25, Fig. 1, which seals off the chamber from the shaft 2 of the tool bit may be integral with the tool casing, Fig. 5, with a removable nozzle head 3 screwed thereto with sufficient thread clearance to provide helical liquid and air channels 12, 13.
