664,690. Cigarette-making machines. JACKSON; N. W., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. Dec. 2, 1949 [Dec. 3, 1948], No. 31398/48. Class 130. [Also in Group XXX] The subject-matter of this Specification is similar to that described in Specification 669,557, but the claims cover the means for feeding the stubs to the intermittently rotating fluted drum 6. A wheel 11, Fig. 4, carrying multi-length stubs which are cut into double-length portions by rotary knives, is surrounded by a guide 15 stepped at 16-18 to deposit the stubs in successive grooves 26, Fig. 5, in a fixed member 25 from which the end stub in each groove is ejected simultaneously into the flutes 7. when the drum 6 is stationary by a member 27 stepped to provide separate pusher faces 28-30 and reciprocated a distance equal to the length of a stub by cam-actuated levers 62, 63. The drum 6 moves three steps for each reciprocation of the member 27.
