Abstract
664,657. Belt-tensioning devices. ROWLAND, T. May 23, 1950 [Aug. 5, 1949], No. 20458/49. Class 80 (i). [Also in Group XXXV] The belt tension of a motor is varied by angularly adjusting the motor by providing the latter with a mounting comprising pivotal fitting directly attached to one side of the motor casing and to a fixed support, a second separate fitting attached to the other side of the casing, and a third fitting attached to the fixed support and incorporating a swivel bolt engaging the second fitting. The motor 10 has two pairs of feet 12, 13 at opposite sides. Tilting of the motor is about a pair of hinges 14 each of which is formed from a pair of L-shaped brackets 15, 16. Each of the hinges 14 is connected to each of the feet 12 and the other arms of the hinge-unit are attached to a fixed support 20. A second fitting is afforded by a swivel bolt 21 having an eye 22 to hinge the bolt 21 to the support 20 through brackets 23, 24. A plate 31, which is bolted to the pair of feet 13, has a slot 33 through which the swivel bolt 21 is engaged. Tilting of the motor is effected by rotating a star wheel 29.
