Abstract
664,426. Making compound bearings. GLACIER METAL CO., Ltd., and TAIT, W. H. April 12, 1950 [Jan. 28, 1949], No. 2414/49. Drawings to Specification. Class 83 (ii). Plain journal bearings are made by forming parallel grooves in a flat blank of copper, aluminium, or an alloy of copper or aluminium and filling them with a soft metal or metal alloy, the grooves being of such cross sectional form and disposal that when the blank is formed to cylindrical or semi-cylindrical shape the grooves are contracted to key the soft metal or alloy therein. The mechanical bond may be supplemented by metallurgical adhesion.
