Abstract
<PICT:0664123/IV (c)/1> <PICT:0664123/IV (c)/2> Apparatus for drying, thermal setting or otherwise treating hosiery &c. has closable chambers 2, 3, a plurality of forms 15 on carriers 13 each pivotally mounted at 12 on a slidable support 6 movable in and out of the chamber by means of a handle 11 and a bar 17 to meet the carrier 13 as it is drawn forward, causing the form to tilt forwards, a bar 18 causing reverse pivoting when the carrier is returned to the chamber. The support 6 moves on guide-rods 9 and the form carrier 13 is pivoted at a point off-set from its axis. A sliding door 19 may be moved to close either chamber and each chamber contains a fan 26 above which is mounted a baffle 27, the appropriate motor 29 being switched on by a switch 32 operated by the closing of the door 19. Air is drawn through the chamber by the action of the fan, is heated by steam pipes 23 in the upper part of the chamber and is expelled through an opening covered by a screen 31.
