663,764. Spools. DOMINION MAGNESIUM, Ltd. Sept. 2, 1948 [Jan. 29, 1948], No. 23186/48. Class 120(iii) A spool comprises a pair of unitary end flanges 1, each having a concentric hub 5 with a bore 4 and a concentric shoulder portion 7, an axial supporting tube 2 having its end portions in press-fitting engagement with the bore, and a materialcarrying drum 3 having its end portions in press-fitting engagement with the shoulder, the pressfitting engagement of said tube and drum' constituting the sole means for maintaining said tube, drum and flanges in substantially permanently assembled relation. A modification provides an annular inwardly directed rib on the inside surface of each flange, in place of the shoulder, over which rib the ends of the material-carrying member are forced.
