Abstract
654,787. Spools. DOMINION MAGNESIUM, Ltd. Sept. 2,1948, No. 23185. Convention date, June 30. [Class 120(iii)] A spool comprises a pair of end flanges 1 and 2 each having an axial hub 5<1> and a series of inwardly offset wall portions 6 radially and uniformly spaced from said hub, each said offset wall portion providing a complementary wall opening 7 in the flange, a supporting tube 3 having its ends anchored in said hubs and a drum 4 having each of its end portions overlying a series of said offset wall portions, said end portions being welded to said offset wall portions and to the adjacent edges of said openings as indicated at 11. The ends of the tube 3 are a tight fit in the bores 5 of the hubs 5' and may be knurled or alternatively the ends of the tube may be welded to the outer peripheries of the bores 5. Separate drum locating lugs 10 on the inside surface of the flanges may be provided.
