Abstract
663,549. Supply systems for discharge lamps. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Oct. 11, 1948 [Oct. 5, 1948], No. 26430/48. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 12, 1949.] Class 38 (iv). To maintain constant electrode heating in a discharge lamp 20 supplied through a dimming transductor 29, a variable potentiometer 27 conjointly controls the transductor and the input to an electrode-heating transformer 25 in opposite senses, so that as the discharge current is increased the output of the transformer is reduced and vice versa. In another arrangement a further transductor is in series with the primary winding of the heating transformer, and the two output circuits of the potentiometer (which is now across a D.C. source) feed the control windings of the two transductors. Fig. 3 shows a circuit in which the transductor 29 has a separately energized D.C. winding 54 opposed by a winding 53 responsive to current in the primary circuit of the heater transformer, which is controlled by a potentiometer 51. A switch 55 actuated by the potentiometer may control the closing of the discharge circuit.
