In a distributer valve for fluid pressure brakes comprising a slide valve 21 controlling the supply of fluid under pressure to, and its release from, the brake cylinder and subject to the action of pressures on a number of movable abutments 10, 12, 14 means, such as the ledge 25, are provided to prevent the movement of the slide valve 21 beyond the brakes released position as would otherwise occur as a result of the deflection of the members 10, 12, 14 necessary to close the valve 16 that governs the rate of charging of the auxiliary reservoir. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the ledge 25 is disposed below the slide valve.
