661,550. Briquetting presses. SAHUT, CONREUR & CIE. Dec. 6, 1949 [Dec. 7, 1948], No. 31258/49. Class 87(ii) An agglomerating or briquetting press of the kind comprising a wheel formed with peripheral cells co-operating with a wheel formed with a peripheral groove, is characterized in that the peripheral speed of the grooved wheel is greater than that of the cell-bearing wheel. This gives an equal density of packing at the two ends of each cell. In Fig. 2 the periphery of a wheel A is formed into cells a which engage with a smooth groove g in a wheel B so that when the wheels rotate in opposite directions, coal dust fed in from above is compressed into briquettes under great pressure. Wheel B has a greater peripheral speed which forces more filling into the lower part of each cell which otherwise tends to be more lightly packed. In Fig. 4 the cell-bearing wheel A<SP>1</SP> is positioned inside a ring C having a smooth groove c on its inner circumference. The ring C is driven at a greater peripheral speed than the wheel A<SP>1</SP>. Specification 646,175 is referred to.
