Abstract
660,970. Removing deleterious matter from valves. SPENCE & SONS, Ltd., P., and RYCKE, D. DE. April 17, 1950 [Oct. 5, 1949] No. 25568/49. Class 135. In a valve for controlling the flow of liquids, the closure member 1 is provided with a flexible disc or ring 6 which precedes the member 1 during the closing movement and sweeps over the valve seat 2 to clean the latter whilst, at the same time, constituting a temporary closure to the valve port. A flexible annulus 4 combined with the valve seat scrapes the member 1 as the latter moves towards the closed position. The disc, &c. 6 is of metal or rubber. If the valve spindle has a skew thread engagement with the spindle guide, the valve will be rotated during the longitudinal opening and closing movements.
